Why you should never make your bed? Seriously?

So there are a few articles floating around,  about the fact that you don’t need to make your bed!  And it all ties back to this comment:

“We know that mites can only survive by taking in water from the atmosphere using small glands on the outside of their body,” – Dr. Stephen Pretlove of Kingston University’s School of Architecture said.

“Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die.”

So why is this a problem?

Do you find yourself having any of the following allergies:
1. Watery, red eyes
2. Runny or itchy nose and sneezing
3. Sore throat or hoarse voice
4. Coughing and other breathing problems
5. Skin rash and itching
6. Worsening of your asthma

You could have a dust mite problem!

What are dust mites?

These microscopic little mites are running around in your bed, with the average bed home to about 1.5 million of them!

House dust mites feed on human skin scales and the allergens they produce (which is actually their poo) are inhaled whilst you sleep. They are a major cause of aggravating symptoms like asthma.

So there’s a party going on in your bed, and you’re the main course!

So what can you do?

One option is possibly to follow Dr. Stephen Pretlove’s comments and don’t make your bed. But that just leaves you with a messy room and really, do you want to come home to anything less than luxury?

If you really want to reduce and eliminate your dust mite problem,  then get a 100% Natural Latex Zaanta Mattress or Topper pad and pillow.

A latex mattress isn’t dust mite free, but a 100% Natural Latex Zaanta mattress is.  A 100% Natural Latex Zaanta mattress can’t keep your bedroom dust mite free, but it can keep your mattress dust mite free.

Remember a dust mite free mattress doesn’t eliminate dust mites from the rest of your room,  such as your curtains, carpet, etc.. You need to keep your home clean for that. But then again,  you don’t spend 8-10 hrs a day with your face against the carpet. At least we hope not!

This is where a Zaanta mattress or even a Zaanta topper with a Zaanta pillow can help make a world of a difference to your night’s rest. Beat the allergies!

Some suggested other ways to minimize dust mites

– Use a bed with a wooden or metal frame.
– Wash bedding in hot water. Cold water does not kill dust mites.
– Wash sheets and pillowcases at least once a week. Wash comforters and bedspreads every one to two months.
– Consider using an electric blanket, which can reduce humidity on bed surfaces.
– Wash and dry stuffed animals often and keep them off beds.
– If you don’t have a Zaanta mattress,  then clean your mattress in late winter and early spring. That will kill any dust mites that survived the winter and reduce their numbers in the summer months. Or get a 100% Natural Latex Zaanta Topper pad and reduce the impact of your current mattress.

Best solution is to just get a 100% Natural Latex Zaanta mattress and pillow. Then start #feelingZaanta!
